Summer Camp at The Village Academy

Summer at The Village Academy provides a four-acre informal setting for summer learning and exploration. We have provided a summer camp experience like no other in Northeast Florida for over 37 years. Children enjoy a wide range of fun and innovative daily activities that are based on exciting weekly themes along with team indoor/outdoor activities and sports, individual and team sports, daily swimming and mega jump pad, weekly field trips, and an indoor air-conditioned gym. Campers enjoy a variety of activities which promote learning, team building, volunteerism, friendship skills, and personal growth all while having fun in a safe camp environment.

The Village Academy Summer Camp is designed for children ages 5 through 12. Our Northeast Florida Teen Leadership Institute is for teens ages 13 through 16 (more information below). We offer 8 different summer camp groups divided by age. Campers are carefully placed into a group with a consistent camp counselor and counselors become mentors who approach celebrity status with their campers by the end of the summer. A nutritious lunch and two snacks are included for your child. American Red Cross certified lifeguards are on duty during daily swimming and swim lessons are available. We promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle in a safe and fun environment. We utilize our large indoor air conditioned gymnasium and indoor camp rooms to provide a good balance between indoor and outdoor time. Our superior hydration policy along with our two swimming pools and water activities ensure that children stay cool during summer days.

Campers begin their mornings with a Camp Round Up that includes camp songs, fun “challenges”, skits, and competitions. Campers then begin their daily rotations that include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities, project based arts and crafts, Fun with Food cooking projects, experiments, and indoor/outdoor sports and games that are centered on fun weekly themes.

A signature of our Summer Camp program each year is The Village Summer Camp Olympics. This camp week brings with it so much excitement and the campers have an opportunity to participate in competitions involving Camp Spirit and a variety of events from tug-o-war, pool relays, and obstacle courses, to watermelon seed spitting contests. Campers will represent their teams in challenges and will also help design team shirts, flags, and plaques. Each team will have their own chants and our Camp Olympics finale is a Sing Off where campers present songs they have been practicing throughout the week. During Summer Camp 2019, Camp Olympics will take place during Week 9, from July 22 – July 26.  Let the games begin!

We screen and select our summer camp counselors with careful consideration. All camp staff have cleared an FBI Level 2 Background screening, and are certified in First Aid and CPR. Many of our counselors are either attending college or are college graduates who have experience working with children in a variety of settings. Camp staff will additionally attend pre-camp training focusing on safety and security, as well as all aspects of our camp programs.

We are proud of the exciting opportunity we offer our campers each summer by hiring a team of multi-cultural staff. Through a cultural exchange program called Camp America, we hire our English speaking foreign counselors predominantly from the United Kingdom (UK). Camp America has been providing international staff to summer camps across the USA, since 1969. The relationships our campers build with our multi-cultural staff is both enriching and exciting for our campers and their families.
