Junior Pre-Kindergarten (3 years to 4 years)
Our Junior Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on school readiness skills and preparation for your child’s VPK year. We know from research that children learn best when new information is acquired using two or more sensory pathways (for example, when they hear and see a letter). Given this, our teachers are trained to provide multisensory learning experiences in each aspect of your child’s day. Our teachers are also trained to understand the different learning styles that children may have. Some children are visual learners, some auditory, some learn through best through moving, and some learn through touching. Our multisensory, play-based learning approach ensures that all learners are provided with an opportunity for learning success. Our teachers provide nurturing guidance through both shared and independent learning experiences so that children receive opportunities for independent discovery and cooperative learning. We also provide differentiated instruction that is adapted to your child’s unique developmental needs and progress. Your child will be introduced to foundational academic skills that are critical for future academic success. Our Junior Pre-Kindergarten teachers introduce children to early mathematical skills such as number relationships, measurement, and hands-on geometry experiences that develop problem solving and reasoning skills. Children are also exposed to the building blocks of early literacy: emergent writing skills, oral language skills, letter knowledge, phonological awareness, and print awareness and teachers use dialogic reading techniques during shared read alouds. Our teachers incorporate STEM activities (science, technology, engineering, and math) into the daily routine and also ensure that children are exposed to a wide range of world cultures and diversity.
We use the Houghton-Mifflin VPK and The Letter People curriculum. These curriculum programs help expose the children to letters, sounds, numbers and math, science for kids, as well as physical activity. This has the tremendous benefit of allowing our children to transition smoothly into Florida VPK. This curriculum also makes sure the children possess the foundation skills in reading, writing, and math. Students are taught in a fun-loving environment which serves as the basis for developing their love of learning and life.
