Our Classes and Curriculum
The Village Academy is an educational learning institution; we are not a daycare.
We use accredited preschool curriculum that addresses the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of your child. For children ages 6 weeks through Toddlers we use Learn Every Day and the Active Learning Curriculum; for children ages 2-3 we predominately use the Letter People Curriculum; for children ages 3-5 we use Houghton Mifflin, The Letter People, and Scholastic’s A Big Day Curriculum. Additionally we supplement our early childhood curriculum with character development programs such as Pillars of Character and Character Counts.
Preschool Classes and Curriculum
Communication with our families is very important to us. Your child’s education and well-being is greatly affected by your participation and we respect that. In your child’s classroom there is always a parent information board where we update our families on the latest information relevant to each classroom. You will also find a monthly calendar, lesson plan, and lunch and snack schedule available to you on this parent board. You might wonder, what does my child do during the day? How did she sleep? Did she eat a lot? How was her mood? Is she going to be wide awake or very tired tonight? Teachers additionally provide daily reports for infant, toddlers, and preschool children. The teachers will share your child’s progress and will discuss ideas to reinforce the learning at home.
Preschool classes are grouped by age as well as by developmental level.
